What's cooking up? Mehbooba attacking media, not BJP
No Indo-Pak meet in NY

Early times Report
JAMMU, Sept 26: PDP chief and former J&K CM Mehbooba Mufti is very unhappy these days. She is unhappy because Narendra Modi Government cancelled the scheduled meeting between Minister of External Affairs (MEA) Sushma Swaraj and her Pakistani counterpart Shah Mehmood Qureshi on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly session at New York.
She has been saying that the cancellation of meeting between the Foreign Ministers of India and Pakistan was "bad as both the countries owed it to the people of the State to carry on the dialogue. "Calling off meeting between India & Pak's FMs is bad news for J&K. Both countries owe it to people of state & country to carry on dialogue rather than talking through media. Inspite of a historic mandate, it is media & not NDA leadership that is setting the agenda," she has been saying.
The most significant aspect of her whole formulations is that she has not uttered a single word against the ruling BJP at the centre and PM Narendra Modi and that she has been targeting only the media, especially private news channels. In fact, she has been accusing the media of setting the agenda for the BJP-led NDA Government, thus giving everyone to understand that she might rejoin the NDA camp in the near future or after the 2019 general elections. How else should one interpret her attack on the media and not a single word against the BJP, which withdrew its support to her government on June 19 leading to the collapse of her government the same day and imposition of the Governor's Rule on June 20?
Mehbooba Mufti has been talking of the historic mandate that the BJP under the leadership of Narendra Modi got in 2014 - 282 seats. Was that mandate for diluting India's sovereignty in Jammu & Kashmir or accommodating the Pakistani stand on this part of Jammu & Kashmir? The 2014 mandate that the BJP got was for the protection and promotion of paramount national interest, securing nation against foreign threats and defending India's sovereignty and for undoing the wrongs the earlier dispensations had committed to appease certain sections of the Indian society. The BJP had sought and got the mandate on nation-centric and Jammu and Ladakh-centric planks and not on the plank that a vote for it would be a vote for compromise on the age-old stand of India on Jammu & Kashmir.
The manner in which Mehbooba Mufti has been attacking the media and sparing the BJP can be construed as an indication that she in her heart of hearts has been thinking of re-aligning with the BJP to enjoy the loaves and fishes of office. On its part, the Jammu & Kashmir BJP leaders too have not given up the hope of forming government in the state in alliance with what they call "like-minded MLAs".
