Politicians find 'JNU link' to NC leader's resignation
9/26/2018 11:00:46 PM
Early times Report
JAMMU, Sept 26: Even as a senior leader of the National Conference has resigned from the party, reasons behind his extreme decision don't seem to be linked to the upcoming Urban Local Body polls as tweeted by him.
Sources said the leader was not in good terms with the party leadership for the past around five months since a former student leader of the JNU got close to the party.
As already reported by the Early Times, the former JNU student leader had been attending events that were "sponsored" by the National Conference in Kashmir.
Sources said apart from enjoying hospitality including boarding and lodging in hotels from the party, the former student leader had been visiting remote areas of Kashmir province in "proxy for the party".
Sources said the Abdullahs plan to rope in the student leader in the party folds and that she would be elevated to a key position there.
But sources said the NC leader who has resigned had reservations over a fresher into politics being "over pampered" by the party leadership.
Sources said the Abdullahs had stopped listening to their party colleague and would be more concerned to keep the former JNU leader in good humor.
"Even her friends from New Delhi were hosted by Abullahs and their Political Secretary and their pictures had gone viral on social media," said a party insider on the condition of anonymity.
Sources said the NC leader who has resigned had already got in touch with some other political parties and was waiting for party president Omar Abdullah to return from abroad before taking final decision.
Sources said even after Omar's return from the abroad, there was no improvement in the relations.
Sources said the politician in question was advised by his friends that it was better to break ties with the party which is more interested to rope in new leaders than be concerned about old ones.
The NC leader had resigned from the party saying he wanted to contest the upcoming Urban Local Body polls.
The leader has already changed his profile picture on social media and now claims to be working for the interests of Srinagar city.
Despite repeated attempts the leader who resigned or the National Conference leadership couldn't be contacted for comments.
