NC, PDP cadre unhappy over boycott decision
9/29/2018 10:57:48 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Sept 29: Both National Conference (NC) and People's Democratic Party (PDP) the two mainstream parties of Kashmir Valley have been exposed for the poll boycott call.
The parties are not in a position to defend their decision after they faced stiff opposition from nationalist forces for staying away from the Urban Local Bodies (ULB) and Panchayat polls. Sources said NC and PDP who have been blamed for following the line of terrorists and separatist Hurriyat are unable to defend themselves in public especially when terrorists outfits and Hurriyat hardliner Syed Ali Shah Geelani and JKLF leaders in Valley have made an appeal to people to make poll boycott call a total success.
In the public meetings PDP as well as NC leaders are unable to defend the decision and face their cadres who have been all along told to strengthening of democracy has been their main priority.
Sources said not satisfied with party decision to boycott elections some NC and PDP activists have decided to contest as independents saying otherwise they will be wiped out from political scene of the State. Recently resignation of NC youth leader Junaid Matoo is an indicator in this regard.
Sources said Matoo is tossing for Mayor's post of Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC). He wants to align with some political outfit in the State which can ensure his election as Mayor of SMC . Sources said Matoo is also in touch with a former Minister from Kashmir who is closely linked to BJP. Sources said some legislators of two parties have also questioned the poll boycott decision saying that this way their parties have given credibility to separatists who have ruined the dtate for three decades. These legislators have in categorical terms informed the senior leadership of the party that the decision is going to strengthen separatist movement and throttle the democratic process in the State. They have also said this way the people have been deprived from reaping the fruits of democracy.
