Early Times Report

Kathua, Sept 29:Taking cognizance of Early Times Report, the Kathua Police registered FIR no. 0370 dated 28.09.2018 against Rahul Dev Sharma contesting candidate from Ward no19 for Municipal Council election under Prevention of Insult to Honor Act 1971 and Indian Flag code 2002.
Prevention of insult to National Flag Honor Act 1971 reads Whoever in any public place or in any other place within public view burns, mutilates, defaces, defiles, disfigures, destroys, tramples upon or otherwise shows disrespect to or brings into contempt (whether by words, either spoken or written, or by acts) the Indian National Flag, shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to three years, or with fine, or with both.
Only Early Times noticed the disrespecting of tricolor and highlighted the pseudo Nationalism of Bharatiya Janta party BJP in its 28.09.2018 edition that induced patriotic people to file FIR against accused persons involved in dishonor of tricolor.
Meanwhile, Rahul Dev Sharma filed his nomination on 27.09.2018 before Retiring Officer at The office of Animal Husbandry Kathua. During a procession, contesting candidate, BJP supporters unfurled deliberately and intentionally the Indian flag upside down. Sarcastically Member of Legislature Assembly MLA Kathua Rajiv Jasrotia s/o Ranjit Singh was leading the procession with his supporters while continually disrespecting the Tricolor. MLA is also considered as accused in the FIR. BAR Association today plunged into the shameful act and held a press conference under the chairmanship of Anil Singh Andotra President BAR Association (Youth) Kathua. BAR (youth) association stringently condemned the incident and expressed concern over flaunting disrespect of National flag for 2 km long distance. While informing about the FIR, Andotra said the incident hurt the feeling of general public and especially Indian Army/security forces who scarify their lives to preserve the dignity of tricolor but leaders of pseudo Nationalist BJP continually disrespecting national anthem and now disrespected tricolor. He sadly expressed that it was common in Kashmir division but BJP now tries to start these types of misdeeds on the soil of patriotism, Jammu. BAR (youth) Association felt satisfaction on FIR against main accused and persons present in the procession. President informed that BAR believed in J&K Police and hoped for strict action against accused involved in the case. The association informed that Police assured to precede the case under law but if Police defend the accused or temper the case, judiciary will do justice with tricolor. Disrespect will not be tolerated at any cost, he added.
