| 32 yrs on, Dogrian-Poshana-Chandimarh link road awaits completion | | | MS Nazki

Poonch, Nov 26; It may sound amazing but true that an eight kilometer road connecting 8 panchayats of Chandimarh, Dograian and Poshana areas in sub division Surankote of the district, has been awaiting completion for the past 32 years.
They said link road from Chandimarh to Poshana via Dogrian having a length of 8 kilometers was started way back in 1986 by the Public Works Department but in 1990 the same road was taken up by the NABARD and the work on the road was not commenced for reasons best known to the agency.
Since then no attention has been paid towards this link road yet it was tendered every now and then for construction. Some people believe that the construction of the link road proved to be just like golden-egg-laying hen. Every time all the paper work was completed by the men at helms while on ground no work took place at all, sources added.
Now for the last 5 years, the construction said road has taken up by PMGSY department. During the time earth work on 5 kilometer stretch has been done which goes on at snail's pace.
People have expressed their displeasure over this development and alleged that such a link road was only 8 kms in length could not be completed in a long span of 32 years which was very hard to digest. If this link road is completed and thrown open, it would benefit 30000 souls of 8 panchayats falling in these areas.
Meanwhile, Sarpanch Karamat Hussain has urged the district authorities to take stock of the situation and direct the constructing agency to take up the construction work of this link road on priority so that the cut off areas could be connected soon and local populace get benefitted, he added. |
