Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 27: Former R&B Minister & Senior Vice President of Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee Ghulam Mohammad Saroori today called for end to discrimination with Early Times.
Reacting to the issue of Information department not providing advertisements to the "Early Times" due to its bold and unbiased journalism, Saroori said that the incumbent government should respect the freedom of press and support the journalism of Early Times newspaper with regard to exposing the corruption and rot in the system.
He said, "The government has been claiming that it's taking stern measures to curb the menace of corruption in Jammu and Kashmir. Recently State Vigilance Commission was rechristened as Anti Corruption Bureau with an aim to take the corrupt elements head on. The government should live up to this spirit and encourage the whistleblowers rather than choking their space."
Saroori said, " It's surprising to know that out of Rs 17 Crore budget for Jammu Division, the State run information has only spent Rs 4 crore."
"If government is serious about wiping out the corruption from the system-it must support newspaper like Early Times" said Saroori.
He said, "Governor Satya Pal Malik and his Advisors should take note of it and allow the fourth pillar of democracy to grow."
