AICC incharge Shakeel, Sanjeev arriving today | Congress bid to rejuvenate party in J&K | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 27: In an attempt to rejuvenate the Congress in Jammu and Kashmir ahead of next Lok Sabha and Assembly elections, the party high command is learnt to have directed the Pradesh Congress Committee president for immediate constitution of district Congress committees besides reconstituting the PCC. In this connection, two AICC secretary incharge of J&K, Shakeel Ahmad and Sanjeev Sharma are arriving here tomorrow for taking a meeting of AICC members from J&K and convey the high command direction with regard to reconstituting the PCC and district committees. According to the sources in Congress circles, PCC president G A Mir was summoned in New Delhi where the party high command, particularly AICC general secretary incharge Ambika Soni issued necessary instructions for reconstitution of the district committees and PCC. Pertinent to mention that G A Mir has not reconstituted his PCC team even after more than six months since the party high command's nod for his continuation as PCC president for the second consecutive term whereas the District Congress Committees have not been constituted since more than a decade though the district presidents were nominated a few months back. Delay in reconstitution of the PCC and more particularly the District Congress Committees is believed to be main reason behind poor performance of the party in elections, particularly in the recently held Urban Local Body polls. Sources said that both the secretary incharge, Shakeel Ahmad and Sanjeev Sharma have been assigned the responsibility of monitoring the constitution of District Congress Committee, which will held very soon while the reconstitution of PCC will be done after that in consultation with Ghulam Nabi Azad |
