Strife in Kathua BJP comes to fore
MC president slams Ex-MLA for turning Kathua into his fiefdom
11/27/2018 11:14:00 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 27: Discord among the BJP leaders of Kathua once again came to the fore on Tuesday, when two party leaders openly castigated their party leader and his family.
They criticized the party leader for allegedly turning Kathua into his private fiefdom as well as keeping hostage various development projects for his personal gains.
From the remarks of these two BJP leaders it has become apparent that either the high command has also decided to corner one of their leaders in Kathua or these two leaders are so much powerful that they do not take into consideration the party discipline.
The open criticism against a local leader's family started on Tuesday by newly elected president of Municipal Council Kathua Naresh Sharma while taking oath of the office. Making a scathed attack on the local leader's family, Sharma said that some people were unhappy with him taking charge as president of the council.
"Some people have been considering Kathua as their personal property and are unhappy, but I want to ask them to come forward for the development of Kathua as the president of council are elected representatives", Sharma said, adding that some were disheartened that some property has been snatched by them "but it was the property of Kathua's public and not someone's else."
Making reference to the press conference addressed by Rajinder Singh alias Babi, brother of ex-legislator from Basohli constituency, Choudhary Lal Singh, in which he had demanded invoking anti-defection law against Naresh Sharma as he had joined BJP after leaving Congress, Sharma said: "We left Congress and joined BJP and now they are knocking the court's door, but we want to ask them how can they ask such a question when they were not part of Congress at all?"
Sharma added: "Your brother had left Congress and joined BJP. Was that a holy bath in Ganga?" He went on to add that many people were aware of the "real character of these people and others who worked against BJP while being in the party."
"We will not let them go. Our entire team will not spare them and public is aware of the fact about their performance in the Panchayat elections where none of their Sarpanch candidates won", Sharma said, while addressing media persons.
Similarly, former legislator of Kathua constituency, Rajeev Jasrotia while addressing a gathering lashed out at the BJP leader. Without taking his name, Jasrotia held him responsible for stalling and delaying most of the developmental projects of Kathua.
"We have the example of Medical College Kathua, which was shifted to some other place from Kathua town by the same leader by misguiding the officers of Health and Medical Education department", Jasrotia said, adding that even the then Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed had accepted that one of their cabinet Minister had misguided them.
"Two inferences could be drawn from the open criticism of their own party leader by BJP leaders. One can be either the local unit has got signal from the higher command to sideline their own leader and second could be they have been trying to teach a lesson to the party leader to follow the party discipline", a political analyst said.
