Panchayat Polls: Doongi, Qila Darhal blocks record 81.8% polling

RAJOURI, Nov 27: In the 4th phase of Panchayat elections in two blocks in Rajouri district, 81.80 % polling has been recorded today.
Today polling was held in Doongi and Qila Darhal blocks. In Doongi block for 18 seats of sarpanchs 60 candidates and for 126 constituencies of panchs 240 candidates were in fray.
In Doongi block 15 candidates have withdrawn their nominations while for panch constituencies 23 candidates have withdrawn in favour of other candidates.
In Qilla Darhal block 29 candidates have tried their luck for the 9 posts of sarpanchs while for 67 panch constituencies 139 candidates have tried their luck.
Eight candidates have withdrawn their nominations for the posts of sarpanches in Qilla Darhal while 19 candidates left the field for panch constituencies.
Out of eligible 21494 voters including 10320 females, 17678 have casts their votes making the polling percentage to 82.25 % while in Qilla Darhal block out of 12251 eligible voters, including 5862 females, 9940 have polled their votes and the polling percentage remained at 81.14 %.
98 years old Krishna Devi was the oldest woman who cast her vote at Chatyar polling booth in Doongi block.
