| Poppy straw recovered, peddler held | | |  Early Times Report
BANIHAL, Nov 27: In its drive against the menace of drugs, Ramban Police today achieved a major success by recovering 865 kilograms of Poppy Straw (Bhukki) from Haryana based truck at Banihal.
Polices spokesman said that the truck bearing registration number HR55N-1368 loaded with Apple boxes, on way from Kashmir valley towards Punjab, was stopped at a special naka raised on specific information at Railway crossing Banihal and put to thorough search.
"During the process of search it was found carrying 865 Kgs of the Psychotropic Substance, apart from Apple boxes which was immediately seized", said spokesman. In this regard a case under FIR No 192/18 has been registered at Banihal police station and the driver namely Surjit Kumar of Rampur BirlonTeh. Ghar Shankar, Hoshiarpur has been arrested.
Further investigation into the case is in progress and some more arrests/recoveries are expected. The special naka was laid by a Police team headed by Inspector Aijaz Ahmad Wani-SHO Banihal under the supervision of DySP Sajjad Sarwar-SDPO Banihal, Sanjay Parihar-Addl SP Ramban and overall supervision of Anita Sharma-SSP Ramban. |
