Early Times Report
BILLAWAR, Dec 21: Former Minister and senior Congress leader Dr Manohar Lal Sharma conducted a 4-day long tour of Billawar Assembly Constituency and took stock of development needs and public issues during string of public grievances-cum-redressal meetings held in remote areas of the area.
Dr Sharma during his whirlwind tour visited several villages including Ramkote, Chingi Makwal, Uchapind, Tilla Gurnala, Drami, Buggan, Dharamkote, Durrang, Lakhri, Bhaddu, Thamman, Dingaamb, Dyalachak and participated in various social, religious functions and also interacted with local people, senior citizens, youths, newly elected panches and sarpanches of the constituency. During interactions people apprised Manohar Lal Sharma about the problems faced by them on day to day basis such as scarcity of drinking water, electricity, bad conditions of roads, shortage of ration especially sugar, discrimination in allotments of funds in various schemes such as MNREGA, Widow /old age pension and many more. People also alleged that from past more than a year payments has not been made against the work executed under MNREGA. They further complained that to cater the scarcity of water especially in Kandi belt many dug wells and hand pumps were dug in 2015 during Dr Sharma's tenure but majority of them were not commissioned during past 4 years by the previous BJP government. While addressing the huge gathering at Dayalachak, Dr Sharma heavily criticized the mis-governance of BJP government due to which common masses are facing problems and feeling deceived.
