Jammu, Dec 26: The workers of Dogra Front & Shiv Sena under the leadership of President Ashok Gupta took out a protest in Jammu city demanding the abolishment of toll Tax at Lakhanpur. Party workers raised slogans demanding one nation, one tax.
Ashok Gupta demanded abolition of state toll tax on goods at the Lakhanpur inter-state border between Punjab and J&K, uninterrupted power supply and more incentives to industries through alternate mechanisms. The protestors are claiming that state revenue has gone up since the implementation of GST. He stated that the imposition of the Toll tax on the goods sends out the message that the J&K is not a part of the one nation, One tax regime. Party President accused the sales tax department of harassing the trade and business community and sought Governor Satya Pal Malik's intervention into the matter. He stated that such intervention of the Sales Tax official would only promote inspector Raj. He further stated that if there is some sort of grievance or problem with the a certain trader than he should be informed through email or either by call rather than just storming in to his enterprise with police and behaving with him like a criminal and threatening the business owner in front of his costumer. The traders should be given a little extra time to accommodate the new GST regime if they are lagging behind in filling there GST Returns.
