Mehbooba acknowledges she has 'failed' as a leader

Early Times Report

Jammu, Dec 25: Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and Peoples Democratic Party President Mehbooba Mufti has apparently acknowledged that she has "failed as a leader" and more people would leave her party in coming days.
According to the media reports Mehbooba while chairing a meeting of her party activists from Kishtwar, Inderwal, Bhaderwah, Doda, Banihal and Ramban districts in Jammu informed them that the people who left the PDP were "parachuted entries" into the party fold and they parted ways in the same manner.
A PDP leader, who wished not to be named, said, "Mehbooba is trying to blame others for her failures. Former Finance Minister Haseeb Drabu, who recently said goodbye to PDP was unceremoniously stri/pped of his portfolio after he mustered courage to speak the truth by stating that Kashmir is no issue and people of Kashmir have been wasting their time."
The PDP leader said similarly Mehbooba during her hey days humiliated Imran Ansari, his uncle Abid Ansari, Basharat Bukhari and others. "She has forgotten how shabbily she and her coterie, comprising mostly of yes men and her family members, treated the senior leaders of the party and left no opportunity to cut them to size," the PDP leader added.
He said, "Mehbooba herself is responsible for PDP being at crossroads today.
The leaders who have left know it very well that the former Chief Minister has no leadership qualities and has no acumen to lead the party.
She inherited the Chief Minister's post from her late father but couldn't hold on to it as she lacked the leadership qualities and couldn't take everyone along."
A Kashmir watcher said that besides giving freehand to her family members, Mehbooba as Chief Minister never took cognizance of the various scams and scandals which came to fore during her tenure. "She just brushed aside these scams which emboldened the elements who were involved in these practices," he added.
An analyst said that after losing power Mehbooba is claiming that she was not interested in carrying on the coalition with the Bharatiya Janata Party after the death of late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed but she was "compelled" to do so as her party leaders wanted the alliance to continue. "She did not find any faults with the BJP leadership when she was ruling the state. In fact she missed no opportunity to praise the BJP central leadership. On many occasions she said that PDP joining hands with the BJP had put the J&K on path of progress. After being ousted from power she has taken a u-turn and is blaming BJP for all the ills. How strange?" the analyst added.
