DPS student wins 23rd Kusamakura Int'l Haiku contest 2018

Jammu, Dec 26: Lakshay Gandotra (X-E) of DPS Jammu brought laurels to the school and his parents by securing 3rd prize (Nyusen) in Foreign Language Category in 23rd "Kusamakura" International Haiku Contest-2018 organized online by The International "Kusamakura" Haiku Competition Office, Japan, the result for which was declared on 17th November, 2018 in Kumamoto City.
Lakshay was awarded with a Merit Certificate and a Letter of Appreciation from and Kazufumi Onishi, Mayor of Kumamoto and Honorary Chairman, International Kusamakura Haiku Competition and Nakamasa Iwaoka, Chairman, International Kusamakura Haiku Competition for his Haiku: "silent sun, girl child collects her ruined, books after the flood". It is noteworthy that only one entry from India has been selected this year for this prestigious award. Earlier, Lakshay had also won 21st Mainichi Haiku Contest-2017 and secured second place in his category.
Principal, DPS Jammu, Ruchi Chabra congratulated the budding gem for this achievement and his parents Amita Gandotra and Sanjeev Gandotra for the meritorious literary achievement and also encouraged other children to take interest in such literary pursuits. President, M.K Ajatshatru Singh, Kunwrani Ritu Singh and Director S.S Sodhi also extended their best wishes to Lakshay and his parents.
