Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 26: A full day Interactive meeting with community Stalwarts and AIKS was held on 25th December 2018 at Hotel Savoy.
The meeting was presided over by Col Tej K Tikoo, President, AIKS and attended by the two prominent Kashmiri leaders, MLC Ambardar and State VP, BJP G. L. Raina alias Ajay Bharti. The main purpose of the meeting was to understand the current perspective of the exiled community understanding the critical aspects post-Kashmir Diaspora with prominent leaders, Journalists, and social workers of Jammu.
Before this, the youth brigade of AIKS had held a discussion with the Kashmiri Pandit youths at press club to understand the situations and challenges faced by the community.
In his opening remarks Col Tej Tikoo, President AIKS applauded the achievements of the Kashmiri community on getting on the radar of having prominent places like occupying spaces in civil services and getting medals in the sport. But he appealed to the audiences to have one voice. He informed that since assigned the Chair of AIKS president he has been trying to build the bridges across all sections and organizations.
He said that after meeting all the key leaders of varied KP organizations he has come to the conclusion that Kashmiri Pandit communities differ only on few things but on most of the 80 % of the issues our stand is one, and that is that each Kashmiri has a Kashmir residing inside him. He said what it meant to us a community as a whole what it meant to go back to Kashmir under PM package.
He said there might be pros and cons of KPs who have mentioned on a few things which are of prime importance we all are on one page. Discussions also evolved around the pros and cons of the youths who have gone under PM package to Kashmir. Dr Usha Tikoo also mentioned about the judgment of Shyma Kumar where the court said that the truth couldn't be held hostage to time.
Shiban Khaibri: He spoke that after 30 years of exile none of the political parties has come forward and recognized the Genocide of our community. He said we need to remove the migrant word from our verbatim. Rather a new word should be used that is internally displaced community.
MLC Surinder Ambardar: He said different groups have different standings on the return of Kashmiri Pandits. He has his own; he said that he asks the community stalwarts why not to ask for the autonomy of Ladakh and Kashmir.
