PDD need-based, casual workers stage protest

Jammu, Dec 26: All Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Department's (PDD) need-based and casual workers held a protest here on Wednesday in support of their demands, including release of pending wages.
The protest rally under the banner of All J&K PDD need based casual workers was carried from press club to Secretariat gherao but were stopped by the Jammu and Kashmir police at Indra Chowk not before creating traffic chaos and trouble for commuters.
PDD Need-Based Workers' Union President, Akhil Sharma asked the higher authorities to fulfill their demands.
In Kashmir provision about 7500 workers are being paid wages regularly and were regularized in 2012 but in Jammu and Kashmir there are 3405 workers who are even deprived from their earned wages.
He said these are the workers who round the clock to make sure power supply is made smooth running of power supply. He added that strike of the workers has entered into 22nd day but the issue is yet to be resolved.
