Administration clueless as Rajouri faces acute shortage of electricity, water
12/26/2018 10:06:58 PM
Early Times Report
RAJOURI, Dec 26: Since the onset of winter season, inhabitants of Rajouri district especially in Rajouri town have been facing acute shortage of electricity and water.
Despite several water schemes functioning on papers, the people of the district at various towns and villages don't get regular water supply.
"Inhabitants of Rajouri town are getting water supply after 2-3 days despite functioning of water filter plant and several other water lifting schemes functioning in and around Rajouri town," said Yogesh Sharma, a social activist and political leader.
According to engineers of the PHE department the main reason behind irregular supply of water in Rajouri town is interrupted power supply and very low voltage that make difficult to lift ground water and to store it for further distribution.
MA Asad, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, has directed the Executive Engineer of PHE to ensure proper water supply to inhabitants of Rajouri district during ensuing winter season and especially take care of the town areas.
Unscheduled power cuts besides 8 hours official power curtailment has badly affected the normal life especially in Rajouri town.
The department has been supplying power ranging between 50-100 voltages even during non-peak hours.
"Rajouri district is getting 100 MW power against demand of 140 MW of power which is the main reason behind unscheduled power cuts and low voltage," said, Munshi Khan, Executive Engineer PDD.
