Awareness programme on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao & Poshan Abhiyaan held

Reasi, Dec 26: With a view to sensitize and inspire people for the better child sex ratio, effective approach to girl child and issues related to Health, Hygiene, Optimal Breast Feeding and sanitation in the district, a one-day awareness programme on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and Poshan Abhiyaan was today organised by CDPO ICDS Project Reasi which was presided over by District Development Commissioner Reasi and was attended by District Programme Officer ICDS, Chief Medical Officer, ICDS Supervisors and Anganwari workers and helpers of ICDS. A colourful Natak/ Cultural Programme, with the theme BBBP and Poshan Abhiyaan was held on the occasion which was performed by the field staff of ICDS and Anganwadi Children. Addressing the gathering the Deputy Commissioner informed that Beti Bachao Beti Padhao is a flagship Scheme of Government of India with an aim to make girls independent both socially and financially through education. He also said that women are not lacking behind in any discipline or aspect of life, all they need is promotion and encouragement to be able to use their talent. He further stressed on the need to encourage girl child and allow them to grow up liberally like any other male child in the family and urged the Anganwadi workers to be in touch with their fellow women in their village and educate them so as to curb the dropout rates among the girl students in rural areas.
