Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 5: Despite repeated communications from Ministry of Human Resources and Development (MoHRD), the state government has failed to allocate land to 18 Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) running in makeshift arrangements across the state.
As per the information available with Early Times, there are 38 KVs functioning in Jammu and Kashmir of which, 20 KVs have their own buildings while the rest are operating from the temporary buildings, provided by the concerned sponsoring authorities.
Sources informed Early Times that the Ministry of Human Resource and Development had repeatedly asked State Government to identify land for KVs and asked the concerned Deputy Development Commissioners where these schools are functioning to complete the lease formalities in favour of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) but after lapse of sufficient time both government and DDCs have failed to do the needful.
"The KVs which are running from temporary buildings in Jammu division are Miran Sahib, Bhaderwah, Samba, Akhnoor No.1, Akhnoor No.2, Udhampur No.2, Jourian, Damana, Jindrah and Sunderbani (BSF) whereas in Kashmir division, these are Bandipur (BSF), Awantipura (AFS), Humhama (BSF), Anantnag, Pahalgam and Aminoo, Kargil, and Nubra." informed sources.
Sources further said that the matter is being vigorously pursued by MoHRD with the sponsoring authorities for completion of the mandatory requirements for starting construction work at different locations but due to continued delay on part of concerned DDCs to complete the lease formalities, the construction works of these building is hanging in balance.
"It is the only KV Kathua which has completed all the codal formalities including identification of suitable land and lease formalities in time and now the school is running from its own building at Janglote Morh", said sources.
