Separatists' Hartal politics' begin to back fire
1/5/2019 11:14:29 PM

Early Times Report
srinagar, Jan 5: Separatists' move to ask youth of Srinagar to give their suggestions over their brand of politics has proved counterproductive for them.
A source said that separatists recently held a meeting at Syed Ali Geelani’s residence, in which Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik too participated. "In the meeting, they were worried as people have been expressing their displeasure over Hartal politics," the source said, adding that separatists were feeling the heat as they have been losing their ground across the valley.
"Separatists' brand of politics which only benefits selective people of Kashmir has proved counterproductive for them. The separatists asking youth to come up with suggestions, is part of damage control exercise," the source said.
They chose Jamia Masjid on Friday where they appealed the youth to come up with grievances. Mirwaiz said that Jamia Masjid has represented the voices of the youth and reflected their aspirations. "We will give representation to youth to contribute for the freedom movement. Youth have to control their emotions. We have to be cautious as conspiracies are being hatched against us," he said.
Malik said that Hurriyat was ready to listen to the concerns of youth. "Our doors are open. They can come up with their suggestions," Malik said.
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh's statement has also put them on the back foot and exposed their double standards as they seem more interested in violent politics.
Speaking in Rajya Sabha, Rajnath on Thursday said: "It was perceived that the BJP was not willing to talk to Hurriyat leaders and for this reason, there was status quo in the situation. We asked all-party delegation to go and talk to them (Hurriyat leaders). When they (delegation) went, they (Hurriyat leaders) closed their doors."
He further said that if Hurriyat leaders had talked then, perhaps some ways would have opened. "I told then CM Mehbooba Mufti that if they want to talk to us then we are ready to talk to them. Our doors are open, unconditionally," Rajnath had said.
