Jammu, Jan 7: Recognizing that there are many vulnerable poor people who are being affected by this unusual cold spill, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu Region begun blanket distribution to those in the greatest need. Almost 650 blankets have already been distributed by the society in the areas of Canal Road, Talab Tillo, Rehari Chungi, Sarwal Hospital, Medical College, SMGS Hospital areas, Jewel Chowk, upon and under the Flyover, Vikram Chowk, Bahu Plaza, Bahu Fort, Gandhi Nagar and Satwari. Yesterday this drive was conducted at Railway Station and the adjoining areas.
On Jan 5 a team of Red Cross Members including S.C.Bali, Jagdish Gupta (Ex. Sr. Manager J.K Bank), S. Ashok Singh, Ankush, R. Vijay Magotra along with SDPO Railway Station, Shashi Kala, SHO Railway Station and Dinesh Gupta, Honorary Secretary, IRCS, Jammu Region carried out this distribution drive.
The Red Cross Society appeals to one and all especially the Print and Electronic Media personnel who are mostly in the field to help in identifying the poor needy who are really in need of warm clothing/blankets etc. in this winter season so that their lives could be saved. |
