Awareness camp on climate resilient agricultural practices under NAFCC organized

Jammu, Jan 9: A day long farmers' awareness camp was organized at village Gharota, zone Bhalwal under National Adaptation Fund for Climate Change (NAFCC) in which the officers of the NABARD & Department of Agriculture interacted with farmers of the area and gave awareness regarding various schemes being undertaken in the project.
The camp was inaugurated by CGM NABARD T Balachandran and Joint Director (Extn) Agriculture Bhulesh Zutshi in the presence of Chief Agriculture Officer Jammu, Narender Mishra, Project Coordinator NAFCC A K Malhotra, SDAO Marh R S Jamwal, Programme Officer YS Sason, SMS (SDL) B K Koul, AEO Bhalwal Vandhana Kotwal and other officers/officials of the department. The camp was organized on the directions of H K Razdan, Director Agriculture Jammu.
On the occasion, CGM NABARD Balachandran asked the farmers for judicious and joint utilization of the water and other resources being created under the project. He called upon the farmers to get the maximum benefits through proper implementation of different components of the project for minimizing their vulnerability.
Bulesh Kumar Zutshi, Joint Director of Agriculture (Extension) Jammu on the occasion highlighted the need of adoption of climate resilient agricultural practices and the achievements made under the said project.
Zutshi said that the groundwater potential of the area will be exploited to the maximum through bore-wells or tube wells wherever feasible under the project to provide assured irrigation to the farmers. The farmers were also briefed about the importance of the NAFCC project in which 25 villages of Bhalwal block were selected under the climate change project.
