VIP culture at J&K House Delhi, no place for common people
'Attendant of cancer patient forced to vacate room'

Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 14: Even though the successive governments and Chief Ministers had directed providing suitable accommodations to the state subjects but the Jammu and Kashmir House in New Delhi is allegedly under the control of bureaucrats, with the common masses particularly patients being shown the door.
An attendant of a breast cancer patient who is admitted at AIIMS was allegedly forced to vacate the room from JK House following which he threatened Principal Resident Commissioner (PRC)-Dheeraj Gupta, Additional Resident Commissioner Yasha Mudgal and Manager Naveed Hussain that they would be responsible for the any untoward incident with the patient.
Jammu and Kashmir House in Delhi is being run by department of Hospitality and Protocol. Situated in Chanakiya Puri, New Delhi, the JK House has three Blocks, A B and C comprising of 57 rooms, four VIP suits and 38 residential quarters.
"If you have a high level approach, a recommendation from a bureaucrat then only you can be allotted some space that too after waiting for long hours in the House," said one of the Jammuities accompanying his family member for a specialized treatment at AIMS.
Sources further said that C-Block there is meant for deserving people of Jammu and Kashmir who go for treatment to New Delhi. "But the C-Block remains occupied with political workers, relatives of bureaucrats and other employees," an official said pleading anonymity.
The official further said that government has adopted a VVIP culture at the J&K House.
"If a sick person from the state or having cancer has urgent need for room, he is denied any such facility. Actually the C-Block is meant for such people," the official asserted.
The official said that Block-A and B has been confined to only VVIPs. "The JK Guest House has been confined to VIPs and VVIPs. The common people who have an urgent need are being denied any such facility.
Various complainants have also said that even if they are allotted any rooms after waiting for days together, there are no facilities available to the guests. "The primary and important requirement of the people arriving in Delhi is accommodation. But I will appeal to the people not to visit Delhi with their patients keeping JK House Delhi in their mind. This can prove a nightmare for them," Subash (name changed), working in government department told Early Times.
Some disappointed complainants also alleged that the officials of the JK House in Delhi accommodate the families of politicians, bureaucrats or those who have a recommendation from any politician or a top official.
