ZEO Qazigund, Accountant in ACB net

Jammu, Jan 19: Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) Kashmir today arrested ZEO Qazigund namely Imtiyaz Ahmad Hakeem and Sulinder Singh a Clerk in ZEO Office Qazigund.
Spokesman of Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) said that on the basis of a written complaint lodged by Gh. Mohammad Wani of Naroopora Kukarnag Anantnag alleging therein that ZEO Qazigund namely Imtiyaz Ahmad Hakeem was approached by him for release of payment for two executed works viz Construction of Boundary wall of Middle School Wanpora Kewa and BRC Qazigund which he delayed for long and finally demanded bribe of Rs.5000 from the complainant.
It was further alleged that payment for BRC Qazigund was released by the ZEO after receiving the bribe amount of Rs.5000 from the complainant while the other payment was still kept withheld.
"The ZEO demanded further amount of Rs.5000 and asked the complainant to keep the money with his clerk/Acctt, Sulinder Singh in ZEO office so that after receiving the money he will release the payment of the second work", said spokesman. After complaint filed by the complainant, a trap team constituted by ACB Kashmir headed by DySP Mohammad Shafiq laid a successful trap in which Sulinder Singh a Clerk ZEO Office Qazigund was caught red handed while demanding and accepting bribe amounting Rs.5000 from the complainant.
The tainted money was recovered from the possession of the accused in presence of independent witness. A case under FIR No. 03/ 2019 has been registered in police station Anti Corruption Bureau, Kashmir under section 5(1) (d) r/w 5(2) J&K P.C.
Act Samvat 2006 and Sec 4-A of the amended PC Act against the above mentioned accused public servant. Later on the relevant records were seized and both the Clerk (Sr Asst/ Accountant) along with the accused ZEO were arrested for the commission of corrupt practices. Further investigations are going on, into the case.
