Jammu, Jan 19: The casusl labourers engaged by Bhaderwah Tourism Development Authority (BTDA) are without wages since September 2016.
Wishing anonymity, a causal labourer informed Early Times that over 60 employees engaged in said authority since it was established. We people performing our duties regularly but interesting the officials of authority has failed to release their 28months pending wages due to which we people are facing financial crises.
Despite several representations to higher official of authority to release their pending wages but till date they had failed to release wages of poor workers and have been managing their family affairs by taking loan.
"Whenever we inquire about delay in release of salary with higher officials, they assure us that the matter has been taken-up with government and pending dues will cleared as early as possible, despite repeated assurances, nothing has been done in favour of employees", another casual labourers said.
They further said that the delay on part of government to release the salary has created lot of problems for us, currently they are unable to meet their household expenses and even the shopkeepers has refused to lend him any more items on credit.
Another casual labourer said that they could not afford school fee of their children and the school administration has warned to expel children, if they would fail to submit the fee. Castigating the higher officials of authority, the employees said that they were appointed on Need basis but they have failed to pay their pending dues.
"I belong to a very poor family in remote area of Tehsil Bhaderwah, and I have to spend Rs. 50 on daily basis on transportation, it has become very difficult for me to meet my requirements in the absence of salary", in dismayed voice, another employees said. He further said that his financial conditions went like an un-employed. Due to pending wages, it is difficult for us to buy medicines for our old age parents.
