PDP panning to field Nazir Yatoo from Srinagar LS
1/19/2019 11:11:43 PM
Early Times Report

Srinagar, Jan 19: As Lok Sabha election is only a few months away Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is planning to field a new face from Srinagar parliamentary constituency as several PDP loyalists have turned rebels in the party.
Reliable sources have revealed that Nazir Ahmad Yatoo who was recently elevated as Provincial President of PDPs Youth Wing would be the new part candidate for forthcoming lok sabha elections. Yatoo was until recently General Secretary of PDP Youth wing and during PDP- BJP Government he was Vice Chairman of JK Cements as well Yatoo a Civil Engineer by training who left his job as Lecturer Govt Polytechnic Srinagar in 2007 , been a long time party loyalist who hails from Budgam district. Pertinent to mention that PDP got a severe blow in Budgam district as well after its senior leaders Javid Mustaffa Mir (ex Minister / MLA from Chadoora) and MLC Saifudin Bhat from Khansahib resigned recently. Budgam plays a crucial role in Srinagar lok sabha elections as Srinagar district mostly boycotts elections and people of 4 assembly segments of Budgam vis Chadoora , Charar Sharief , Beeraw , Khansahib witness good amount of voting. Even during the recent panchayat elections people from these areas cast vote to elect their representatives.
"Nazir Ahmad Yatoo hails from Charar Sharief constituency and has a good public following in Char sharief and other areas of Budgam. He has good contacts in Srinagar and Ganderbal pockets as well. If he is made party candidate PDP can give a tough fight to NC . If Dr Farooq Abdullah is not the candidate then Nazir can even win the lok sabha elections " said a senior PDP worker from Budgam.
PDP always relies on Budgam and Ganderbal districts which are part of Srinagar lok sabha segment. PDP got a shot in the arm when Nazir Ahmad Khan a senior congress leader from Beerwah joined PDP few years back. He contested lok sabha by-elections but due to large scale violence and boycott he lost the elections and gave a very strong fight to Dr Farooq Abdullah during by elections, Khan is said to be PDPs MLA candidate from Beerwah this time.
