Early Times Report

KUPWARA, Jan 19: Scores of far flung villages in Teetwal are without basic facilities, local residents believe that, from past many years the area has not seen much developments in terms of roads, electricity and fresh drinking water, and with the result people are suffering like anything.
According to local residents Teetwal, the far flung area and close to the Line of Control (LoC) villages including Karhama, Peerpanjoh, Baghbala, and Gundi Gojran have not seen much development from last many years.
Naseema Akhter from Teetwal informed to early times that, they have to walk miles to fetch drinking water from the nearby streams, as the department concerned has failed to restore water supply schemes in their area.
We don't have proper medical facility here, and people have to visit the nearby health centers for medical checkup, and most of the times the staff almost remains absent from their duties, said Naseema.
She said that last time, "We went Srinagar hospital for advanced treatment, as most of the clinical tests are not being done in their area, there remains a shortage of medicine, lack of proper infrastructure, and some key testing facilities are irrelevant and that has rendered the health centers in their area".
However locals from Peerpanjoh, and Baghbala, villages have also complained of the modern facilities that they don't have in 21st century, according to locals from time to time different political leaders have exploited them with hallow promises.
During difficult times they never visit to their areas and with the result people are left at the mercy of God, and maximum families from Teetwal area have migrated to Srinagar for want of facilities, as their areas have no proper roads, electricity and other things, said locals.
The locals alleged their areas are witnessing regular power cuts without any drinking water and other facilities like of power cuts, as the electricity is disrupted for almost 8-12 hours in a day despite that we are paying a monthly power tariffs. The voltage is so low that they fail to illuminate even a small room. We have no choice but to take dinner in candlelight during wintering months, locals added.
