Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 19: Rural Development and Panchyati Raj department (RD&PR) had initiated a probe in embezzlements that took place in south Kashmir's Anantnag district in 1993 but till date the inquiry has not been completed.
Highly placed sources informed Early Times that the RD&PR had initiated a probe into the embezzlement committed by the officials and officers in Anantnag around 26 years ago. "It is near impossible to trace even the record. The probe proved to be a mere eyewash and nothing else", sources in the department said, adding that many other scandals of RDD officials/officers in Anantnag have been buried under the carpet.
"Director Rural Development Kashmir was made enquiry officer by the government to conduct the departmental enquiry against the delinquent officers/officials involved in misappropriation/ embezzlement in RDD Anantnag in 1993 but he did not submit the inquiry report," they said.
Sources said that government should also initiate a probe over embezzlement/misappropriation of funds made in the district since 2008 to 2013. "Former BDO Anantnag, who is also in ACB's FIRs, had also committed huge bungling and created huge liability under Indira Awaas Yojana (IAY)," they said.
"However, the officer managed to get a clean chit in his favour by manipulating the records."
