ACB books SMC officials in violation of norms

Jammu, Jan 19: Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) Kashmir today booked officials of Srinagar Municipal Committee (SMC) for hatching conspiracy with beneficiary and constructed two commercial structures in clear violation to the norms and sketch of building permission which was otherwise for residential purpose.
Spokesman of ACB said that on the outcome of verification conducted by Anti-Corruption Bureau Kashmir it has surfaced that SMC Srinagar have issued building permission No. 267 of 2009 dated 03-09-2009 in the name of one Ghulam Qadir Sofi who had already expired on 14-06-2008 and the son of the deceased namely Mohammad Arif Sofi of PC Depot Rehmat Abad Qamerwari Srinagar in lieu of said building permission and under well knit conspiracy with officers/officials of SMC Srinagar, namely Ab. Salam then Ward Officer (now Rtd.), Gh. Rasool Dar, then Ward officer and Mohammd Yousuf then Building Inspector constructed two commercial structures in clear violation to the norms and sketch of building permission which was otherwise for residential purpose. In this way the above mentioned officers/officials of SMC by sheer abuse of their official positions conferred undue benefit upon themselves and the beneficiary deliberately with ulterior motives. The above mentioned omission and commission on the part of officers/officials of SMC Srinagar and the beneficiary disclose offences punishable U/S 5(1) (d) read with section 5(2) J&K PC Act Svt 2006 and Section 120-B accordingly a case FIR No.04/2019 is registered in police station ACB Srinagar and further investigation into the case is on.
