| PIL regarding healthcare facilities to border firing victims | | DB directs Health Deptt to furnish complete details | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 28: In a Public Interest Litigation filed by Dharminder Paul Singh Raina seeking direction to respondents to provide specialized treatment to the border firing victims/patients and create adequate preventive and treatment infrastructure and facilities for them, a Division Bench of State High Court Comprising Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice Tashi Rabstan after hearing Adv Summit Nayyar for the PIL whereas Sr. AAG HA Siddqui appearing for the State, directed State to file report giving complete details of the facilities which are provided to the border firing victims within four weeks .
Division Bench observed that Status reports have been filed by the Director Health Services, Jammu and the Principal, Government Medical College, Jammu. However, the same do not disclose any details of the victim of border firing or exact facilities which have been provided to the victims.
In the PIL it has been submitted that the crisis like situation prevailed on the borders with dwellers , who were staying in the relief camps , deprived of food, electicity and water while the injured were finding it hard to get ambulances for shifting the firing victims to hospitals , leading to massive protests in Hiranagar as well in Government Medical College, Jammu where attendants of the victims confronted the Minister In Charge Health and Medical Department and there has been compete collapse of the respondents machinery in the border areas and further there were no ambulances to take the victims to hospital and further even no medical basic facilities provided to the GMC Jammu. Despite that no senior consultants are available in the hospitals of Jammu Region round the clock. |
