| DC Poonch lauds efforts of SAI | | |  Early Times Report
Poonch, Feb 6: Deputy Development Commissioner Poonch lauded the efforts of Sports Authority of India for conducting talent scouting in the district for induction in its residential training scheme of the SAI in Jammu.
Senior SAI coaches Dev Raj (Handball) and Aman Sharma (Basketball) called on Rahul Yadav IAS, DC Poonch and apprised him of the initiative of the SAI Training Centre (STC) Jammu to reach out to peripheral areas for conduct of preliminary induction trials. They were accompanied by Nirdosh Sharma, Manager Sports stadium Poonch.
It is for the first time that trials for induction in STC are being conducted outside Jammu for better talent identification, on the instructions of Ramesh Kumar, IAS, DC Jammu, who is also the chairman of the STC management committee. Secretary J&K State Sports Council, Dr. Naseem Choudhary has extended all support for the conduct of trials at Rajouri and Poonch. Over a hundred players appeared in the trials during the four days despite inclement weather conditions.
The players scouted in the preliminary trials shall be subjected to finals selection process at Jammu in the first week of April. |
