Udhampur, Feb 6: A free legal aid clinic was inaugurated by Sanjay Parihar , Principal District and Sessions Judge, and Chairman, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Udhampur , at Panchayat Ghar Jib , on Wednesday .
Beside others, Secretary, DLSA Sandeep Kour ,was also present on the occasion . To create awareness about different welfare schemes and social security measures a legal awareness camp was also held in Panchyat Ghar .
Speaking on the occasion, Parihar said the move was in compliance with the directions and guidance of Chief justice MS Gita Mital Patron- in- chief J&K State Legal Services Authority and Justice Rajesh BIndal Executive Chairman State Legal Services Authority .
He said the clinic would be manned by a retainer lawyer and para legal volunteers.
"The legal aid clinics are intended to provide legal relief accessible to the needy and backward section of society. The thrust is on the basic legal services, like legal advice and assisting in drafting of notices, replies, applications, petitions, etc," he said.
Secretary DLSA Sandeep Kour said that six free legal clinic are already working in different Tehsil of district and more are being set up in remote villages to provide free legal advice and services to the residents who are not in a position approach the court or other government departments," he added .
Besides the members of Bar Association Advocate Swatnter Dev Kotwal and Sanjit Kumar ,SHO Rehmbal Sarpanches, Panches of Panchayat Jib halqua, prominent citizens, and a large number of women were also present on the occasion who appreciated the move of DLSA in this regard . |
