4 civilians injured, house damaged in Pak shelling in Uri sector

BARAMULLA, Mar 10: Four persons were injured and a house partially damaged as Pakistan army resorted to unprovoked shelling second time in ten days in Kamalkote area of Uri sector Sunday.
According to reports, on the intervening night of Mar 9-10, Pakistan resorted to unprovoked firing causing damage to the house of Mohammad Sadiq Barwal and leaving four civilians injured.
The injured have been identified as Riyaz Ahmad S/O Sader Din, Meena Begum W/O Anwar Hussain Mir, Asif Ahmad S/O Anwar Hussain, and Ishtiyaq Ahmad S/O Mohammad Maqbool Mir residents of Batar Kundi Bajrala Kamalkote of Uri town.
They got splinter injures and were referred to Sub District Hospital (SDH) Uri. Later two of them, Riyaz Ahmad and Asif Ahmad were referred to Srinagar Hospital for advanced treatment.
Block Medical Officer, Mohammad Ramzan and SDPO Uri, Mehraj-Ud Din confirmed to early times that four civilian of Kamalkote village were injured in the cross border firing, and all of them were referred to SDH Uri for advanced treatment.
Locals rued government indifference and accused the authorities of providing bunkers to the distressed population.
"From past several years we have been appealing for underground bunkers, but nobody in the administration seems interested to take up the job", said Irshad Ahmad of Uri.
Defense sources said that the army has given befitting reply to the Pakistan after which there was a lull in Uri sector. Pertinently on March 1, a civilian was injured in cross border shelling in Kamalkote area. Gawahalan, Chokas, Kiker and Kathi posts in Uri sector also came under shelling.
