Despite India's super cop as Advisor, tainted Police officers continue to man important positions

Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 10: Despite the fact that K Vijay Kumar, Advisor to Governor has become the main stay of Governor administration in J&K due to his diligence and administrative acumen, it is a pity that several police officers, who have gained notoriety due to their corrupt practices, have managed lucrative postings across the state.
Many of these officers, across the Police hierarchy have cases of grave nature pending against them and several of them deserve to be behind the bars, rather than holding responsible and plum positions. "It is clear that the facts have been concealed form the Advisor to post these tainted officers at such important positions, as he himself is one of the most celebrated police officers of the country and would never have allowed such people on responsible positions" said a senior police officer, now retired.
Those who have been ignored despite merit to accommodate these blue eyed corrupt officers at important postings hint at a conspiracy within the police administration wherein the facts about these officers have been concealed from the Advisor so that the nexus of 'pay for posting' continued to thrive. Many tainted officers have been posted as SHOs, SDPOs, and even district SPs despite their tainted service records. "It is expected that during Governor rule, the officers would get postings as per their merit, but there is a lobby within the police administration which has been carrying on its shady deals despite there being a super cop in place as advisor to the Governor" said a middle rung officer pleading anonymity. It is pertinent to mention here that morale of the police department was high after K Vijay Kumar IPS (Retired), who has been one of the most celebrated police officers of the country and led the operation for elimination of notorious sandal wood smuggler and poacher Virappan in Karnataka was named as one of the advisors to the Governor, but the nexus of officers within the police department is keeping him in dark to continue its murky deeds.
