JAMMU, Mar 19: Social activist, Tarun Uppal said that the present scenario is not conducive for holding elections in the J&K State till the peace is restored in the Kashmir Valley. In a meeting held here on Tuesday, Uppal said that the present situation in the Valley is not at all conducive for holding elections due to ongoing terror-related activities in Kashmir Valley adding that said the continuation of President's rule is the only way for the betterment of people of the State. "Despite repeated calls for restraint and adherence to the ceasefire understanding of 2003 for maintaining peace and tranquility, Pakistan continued to violate the ceasefire," Uppal said, Uppal lambasted the previous governments for their failure to combat terrorism in the region effectively. |
