Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 31: Panun Kashmir conducted a Special meeting of its Executive Council today at Jammu. The day-long meeting was presided over by Virender Raina, Working President and Chairman, Political Affairs Committee of Panun Kashmir. He assumed the responsibilities of the Working President officially in the specially conducted meeting today among a large number of political leaders and social activists present on the occasion. The meeting was attended by the members of Panun Kashmir and its friendly organizations in Jammu. Munish Sharma, In-charge BJP State Morchas in J&K was the Chief guest on the occasion while Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, BJP State Spokesperson on Kashmir Affairs was the guest of honour. Balbir Ram Rattan, State Spokesperson-BJP, D.N. Kissu, President-ADKPU and R.L.Pandita, Chairman-PNBMT were the special guests on the occasion. Upinder Kaul, General Secretary-PK conducted the proceedings of the programme while Kamal Bagati, General Secretary (Org.) presented the key-note address. Members of the Daughters of Panun Kashmir, on the occasion, presented the traditional gaiety to the formal ceremony. Virender Raina in his speech said that Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo has an illustrious carrier spanning over five decades in public life and it is our firm belief and understanding that his experience and capability would be of immense value to the BJP in its continued march towards making India the world leader that all of us dream and aspire. Panun Kashmir acknowledges with great satisfaction the nation building role of the BJP under the dynamic leadership of our Prime Minister Narendra Modi. We also expresses our great appreciation over the recent statement of the Prime Minister at Akhnoor wherein he expressed his deep concern regarding the pain suffered by the displaced Kashmiri Pandits due to Ethnic Cleansing and Mass Exodus from Kashmir. He thanked the activists of the organization for reposing trust in him and assured his positive efforts in the cause of the Pandit community. Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo in his address on the occasion said that his three decades experience in Panun Kashmir as the key leader-activist gave him great experience of public life. The issue of Kashmiri Pandits has assumed importance due to the efforts put in by Panun Kashmir all these three decades at national and international level. Bhartiya Janata Party has a soft corner for the Pandits and it has played a historic role in mitigating their sufferings during the difficult period of displacement. Their forced exile and the dispersal thereafter throughout the globe are tantamount to their continuous genocide as per the 'Convention on Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide'. He appealed the Kashmiri Pandit community to support BJP whole hog and strengthen the hands of PM Modi in a historically important ensuing election. The post-election scenario would throw up lots of opportunities to take up the concerns of Kashmir and Kashmiri Pandits in an objective manner. He assured his continued support for the cause of the displaced people at all levels.
Balbir Ram Rattan, D.N. Kissu and T.N.Pandita also spoke on the occasion and congratulated Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo and Virender Raina over assuming their new responsibilities.
