Early Times Report

BARAMULLA, Mar 31: The local politicians of Rafiabad area have miserably failed to construct a bridge over a river in Rafiabad area, as recently two siblings were drowned in Viji Nallah in Sialkote of Rafiabad, and today politicians want us to vote for them, said locals of Sailkote Rafiabad.
On March 25, the two kids who were trying to cross the steam in Viji Nallah in Sailkote were washed away, and on March 26, body of the duo identified as 8-year-old Seerat Jan and her 13-year-old brother Muhammad Ashraf Najar, were recovered after SDRF, police and Army launched rescue operation. Local resident of Sailkote, Nazir Ahmad said that, the dead bodies of a brother and sister who drowned on Monday evening in Sailkote, Rafiabad area of north Kashmir in Baramulla district, were recovered on Tuesday.
However the local women were heard as saying that, if it would have been the children of eminent personalities, authorities might have responded quickly, but in this hour of grief and sorrow, we all are with the poor family who lost their children when they were crossing the river over a wooden log.
Locals said that no one came to this family, no pro freedom leader, no minister visited here to console them, but yes these political leaders and their workers are busy in conducting political rallies.
"2 children died while crossing a stream because of no proper bridge, and one can understand the pain of locals as these people are struggling for basic necessities, and none of the representatives or so called political leaders spoke about this incident, because their heads are down to shame as they know that they failed to provide any facilities to the poor masses of the area, said local resident, said locals.
Locals said that, two lives were lost because there is no bridge in the area, people use to cross the river over wooden logs, and the local leaders of Rafiabad has miserably failed to provide any relief or rescue to the family who lost their two children in the this tragic mishap.
A group of local people from Rafiabad area told early times that, different politicians are approaching them to vote for their parties, but let them understand, our votes make them leaders and this time they should close their vote bank politics.
"When we are deprived of basic facilities, these politicians have failed to construct a bridge over this stream, how come it is possible that will fulfill our other demands in future, they are power hungry people, who lure the voters with their political motivations and nothing else", said locals.
