Seminar on Role of lawyers in Justice Delivery System organised
Many lawyers felicitated for contribution in dispensation of justice

JAMMU, Mar 31: A lawyers conference on "Role of Lawyers in Justice Delivery System" was organised here today by A K Sawhney Advocate and Constitutional Integration Forum and contesting candidate for the post of High Court Bar Association Jammu.
The function continued for several hours in a jam packed hall of at Hotel Raddison Blu Jammu. The dignitaries who were invited on the dias included Justice K. K. Gupta former Judge of the J&K High Court at Jammu, U K Jalali Sr Advocate, B S Manhas, J A Qazmi, Rozina Afzal
Advocate, K S Puri, Baldev Singh, J P Gandhi, Ch Anwar, Arshad M. Malik, Dy AG besides A K Sawhney Advocate former Bar President and host of the conference.
A galaxy of Advocates participated in the function and most of them were young lawyers for which the conference was held in view of the J&K High Court Bar Association Jammu elections. Meenu Mahajan "Mrs India 2016" and award winner of several social work projects and shows
was also present on the dias, who distributed the trophies and mementoes to several young Advocates including female Advocates.
The Chief Guest Mr Justice K K Gupta (retd) told his life history to the galaxy of Advocates present in the function and how he started from a govt service to a Munisff and later rose to the post of High Court Judge and also remained Acting Chief Justice of J&K High Court.
He spoke on the occasion and expressed views that though the initial days in the profession are tough but it requires diligence and perseverance in this profession to excel. He shared his experiences with the lawyers and the key to success in this profession.
Later a momento was also presented to Late S S Lehar (Sr Advocate) posthumously as a token of tributes to the late legendry lawyer and author. His son in law Ravi Abrol, nephew Meet Anand and other chamber associates Amit Gupta, Aditya Sharma, Nitin Bhasin, etc received the
honors for the Late legendry lawyer.
A K Sawhney Advocate former Bar President of HCBA Jammu also narrated his journey of professional life as how despite being refugees he by his dint of hard work had risen from a transporter's family to a leading lawyer. He narrated to the audience that in his college days
he worked as a truck conductor and side by side continued with his studies and from there he became a Munsiff.
He further shared with the audience that after an year he resigned from the post of Munsiff and accepted the challenge of law practice and how he faced ups and downs in life. He said the only mission of his life which is unfinished is to see an elected Bar Council in J&K and for which he is contesting the elections to pursue his struggle for an elected Bar Council of J&K.
He explained how the Bar Council would function and also have its members in the Bar Council of India. He said that where there are elections for the Parliament, Assembly and even local bodies there from 1961 the elections to the Bar Council have not been held despite Supreme Court's orders.
He also mentioned that how the Jammu Bar has unitedly fought against the injustice to the lawyers and people of the region and state in general and reminded them of several agitations.
