Dogras facing identity crisis: Harsh
4/9/2019 10:06:22 PM
Early Times Report
KATHUA, Apr 9: Urging upon the people to gird up their loins for a decisive battle for restoration of identity and culture of Dogras, Harsh Dev Singh, Chairman JKNPP and former Minister said that the time had come to give a befitting reply to those who had betrayed the trust of people and made attempts to wipe their existence from the native land. He said both the Congress and the BJP having utterly failed to redeem any of its pre poll promises, only marginalized Jammu region. "The disappointment of masses has reached its zenith with people virtually raising a banner of revolt. The on-going Parliamentary elections should be the harbinger of change in the political landscape of Jammu region which faced terminal decline in successive governments", Harsh said. He was addressing series of public meetings in Koota, Jatwal, Dayalachak, Bhaloti, Balani, Khakhyal, Nanan, Budhi, Parwal, Logate, Uttri segments of district Kathua of Udhampur Lok Sabha constituency.
Addressing the gatherings, he regretted that failure of both the parties to get September 23, the birthday of Maharaja Hari Singh declared as State holiday had deeply hurt the sentiment of the Dogras irrespective of caste, creed and colour. Taking a jibe at the BJP in particular, he said that Saffron brigade took an obnoxious U-turn to declare the revered day as Gazetted holiday despite its resolution was passed in the J&K Legislative Council during its rule. He further added that besides its jiggery pokery over the issue of Rohingya deportation, the Saffron Party had failed to get the much publicized Rasana case transferred to CBI despite its own leaders having made public commitments in this regard. "In view of serious developments that had taken place in the past with attempts being made to revive militancy even in Jammu region, the very identity of Dogra was under threat. And with the majority of people forced to migrate outside state, and Dogra land being occupied by non Dogra speaking people, the crisis of identity and culture was fast deepening", cautioned Harsh.
Appealing people to vote for Panthers Party in Lok Sabha elections, he said that only its leaders had the capacity to uphold the Dogra culture at all costs. "We shall leave no stone unturned to restore our identity with dignity and honour", assured Harsh.
