Early Times Report

Udhampur, Apr 9: The sorry state of affairs of Education Department in rural areas is very much clear from the functioning of Government Primary School Kadmari zone Gordi under SSA, which is without a single teacher for the last four months and remains locked most of the time.
Locals divulge that the students enrolled in the school turn up with books every day, only to return after finding the school locked. "Earlier there were two teachers in this school of which a lady teacher was attached to the another middle school in Gordi zone, while the other one was also attached there too for not being 'fit to teach the children'", as per the concerned ZEO, local informed.
Ironically there are aproximatly 15-20 students in the school whose career is at stake and many more are coming in this school for new admissions but parents get very upset to find the school locked.
Kaku Ram, a village elder said that career of the village children is at stake and the government should immediately depute some good teacher in the school so that education of the children does not suffer. "The school building was renovated in 2008 under SSA scheme with good infrastructure but no teaching staff was provided in this school", he added. Concerned ZEO when contacted said that there was no need of two teachers in the school as the strength of students was very low. When contacted, DC Udhampur Piyush Singla assured that he will look into the matter personally and provide the teachers to school as early as possible.
