Job aspirants cry 'recruitment scam' in J&K State Coop Bank
4/9/2019 11:29:22 PM

Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 9: The job aspirants who had applied for various posts in the J&K State Cooperative Bank have accused the concerned of a major recruitment scam.
The applicants said two years ago the bank had advertised job openings for the posts including that of Assistant Managers, Cashier-cum Clerk s and Computer Engineers.
The applicants said in May of 2018 the written exams for the same were held.
As applicants since then no list of those shortlisted for the said posts was made public by the J&K State Cooperative Bank. "They had been telling us that the list would be made public as and when ready," the applicants said.
Official sources said the bank recently held the interviews for the "shortlisted" candidates in Srinagar.
Sources said an attempt to "avoid" controversy the concerned officials sent mails to the "shortlisted candidates" asking them to appear in the interview.
The sources in the bank said what raises eyebrows is that if the list of shortlisted candidates was not make public how come were interviews being held.
Sources said the applicants who had not been sent interview mails staged protests outside the interview centers but that "police was called in."
"We were chased away for raising voice against the recruitment scam," the applicants said.
They said that even the grievance cell was not listening to their woes. "We believe that a big recruitment scam is being executed and this is injustice with the unemployed and deserving candidates," the applicants said.
When contacted a senior official in the J&K State Cooperative Bank admitted that the interviews were being conducted. He, however, refuted complaints of corruption and favoritism. "The interviews are being in most transparent manner," the official said.
Meanwhile the applicants have appealed Governor SP Malik to personally look into the matter.
