Kashmir centric parties unnerved as boycott factor invisible
Centre banning Jamaat, JKLF helped mainstream parties to carry out poll campaigning smoothly

Jammu, Apr 9: With just one day left for polling to be held for the first phase of Lok Sabha polls, Pakistan stooges active in the Valley are trying their best to tell the people that they should stay away from elections.
"Hundreds of people participating in the rallies of various political parties across north Kashmir, where polls are slated to be held on April 11, has shattered the myth that people are not interested in elections," said an analyst.
He said that government's decision to ban Jamaat-e-Islami and Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front has helped the mainstream parties in Kashmir to carry out the campaigning without any threat or fear. "But the irony is that these Kashmir centric parties have been demanding that ban on these parties should be lifted and these pro-Pak elements need to be given a free hand," the analyst added.
During the past few days the self styled commanders of militant outfits-Hizbul Mujahideen, Ansar Gazwatul Hind and Al Badr have released three video clips asking people to stay away from polls and threatening them for participating in election rallies. "The disappointment in the voices of Hizbul commander Riyaz Naikoo and AGW commander Zakir Musa is evident as they have raised questions over the loyalties of the common people. Masses coming out in large number to attend the election rallies have shocked these so-called commanders," the analyst said.
A Kashmir watcher said that Kashmir centric parties should see the writing on the wall and stop chanting Pakistan and Azadi. "Participation of people in the election rallies is an ample proof about common people not being interested in separatist politics and they want to live a peaceful life. It has been proven beyond doubt that activists of the banned parties like Jamaat and JKLF were instrumental in creating fear in the minds of people and with the help of militants they were running a parallel system in the Valley," he added.
A politician said that the overwhelming response of people have put the traditional Kashmir centric parties in a fix. "These parties know it very well that if people come out to vote in large numbers it would prove disastrous for them as during all these years they have thrived on boycott politics. "It looks like that Kashmir centric politicians are nervous and fear of defeat is keeping them at the toes. They have realized that people have made up their minds to take part in the polls and choose their representatives according to their choice," he added.
