Early Times Report

Udhampur, Apr 9: "Translation is not something to be taken off hand or a stepney to regular teaching; it is a serious subject that needs to be talked in the right perspective" said Prof. Prakash Premi, epic writer, poet, critic and a versatile personality of Udhampur, while acting as the resource person in the One-week workshop on translation titled 'SRIJAN': A Step Towards Creation; at Government Degree College, Udhampur, held in collaboration with Dogri Sanstha, Jammu. He further said that with the burgeoning of information and knowledge, the stress upon language as a tool or medium of communication has immensely widened, while enlighting the students with his multi-lingual knowledge and versatility as a writer.
The workshop commenced with Prof. Naresh Sharma, Coordinator workshop, Head Department of English presenting the welcome address. Prof (Dr.) Nutan K.Resutra, Principal of the College was the Chief Guest. Dr. Rusutra called upon the students to take this workshop seriously and not as a course work, since it opens new vistas for their academic and professional growth. He further said that while translating something, it is very important to maintain the spirit which should never get lost in jugglery of words.
