Air Force works wing finally provides Info on non- existent works

Srinagar, Apr 9: After the direction of State Information Commission (SIC) & a sustained campaign by Early Times against corruption , nepotism and corruption in Air Force works wing Srinagar , the Public Information Officer (Garrison Engineer) has provided information under RTI to an applicant who was following up the case from last more than 4 months.
As reported already the Air Force works wing Srinagar was taken to task by the State Information Commission (SIC) as the commission directed the Public Information Officer (PIO) to provide information about civil works being executed at its Rangret unit under RTI Act within a period of 10 days. The information had been denied by the officers of the department from last 6 months. Sources revealed that lots of works shown on papers didn't exist on ground. Information seeker is now mulling to approach Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to conduct the indepth probe into the works being executed at AF I Wing Srinagar especiall

those undertaken under supervision of few Junior Engineers who have been transferred from Srinagar.
The 2nd appeal was listed at State Information Commission (SIC) on March 22nd . Information Commissioner sought an explanation why the PIO was absent continuously for last 2 hearings. He directed the PIO to appear during next hearing and in his interim direction; PIO had been directed to provide information related to civil works executed under supervision of Junior Engineer Ansari to RTI applicant within 10 days from the pronouncement of order. Sources say that Ansari who has been transferred now has been involved in large scale bungling along with many officers of civil works wing.
"I have received the information , this is not complete and many works do not exist on ground . I want to undertake inspection of works as mandated under section 2 of RTI Act . I am thankful to State Information Commission (SIC) and Early Times newspaper for coming to my rescue " said Rashid Ashraf RTI applicant.
