Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 12: In what can be termed as a sad state of affairs in Education department, several education institutions including Government Higher Secondary Schools, High Schools and even Zonal Education Offices are headless in Jammu region.
As per information available with Early Times nearly 35 educational institutions of district Kathua, Poonch, Ramban Udhampur, Rajouri, Jammu and Reasi are headless and the authorities seem totally indifferent.
Sources informed Early Times that before the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) was imposed in the State, the Directorate of School Education Jammu transferred Principals and Headmaster and ZEOs but some institutions were left headless for unknown reasons which has affected quality of education in the schools.
"In this regard, the concerned CEOs had apprised to DSEJ repeatedly before announcement of the general election but DSEJ has failed to provide requisite manpower to educational institution and published an order and give additional charge to nearby Principal of Higher Secondary School", said sources while wishing anonymity.
It is pertinent to mention here that eight Zonal Educational Offices (ZEOs) are headless and DSEJ assigned additional charge to nearby GHSS' Principal are ZEO Majalta, ZEO Babey, ZEO Kulwanta, ZEO Moghla, ZEO Chowki Choura, ZEO Surankote, ZEO Mandi and ZEO Batote.
Whereas as 11 Higher Secondary School (HSS) including Tapper, Khari, Neel, Sangaldan, Ramban, Gandhari, Chowki Jandrore, Ramnagar Sattian, Thaial, Teryath and Agharjitoo.
Besides, 15 High Schools including Janglote, Nathi, Draman Chack Chhabba and others which are running without head of institution.
Despite several flagship programmes launched by Union government, the shortage of manpower especially ZEOs has adversely affected the quality of education in Jammu.
