Rape accused Imam remanded to police custody

JAMMU, Apr 28: Kishtwar: Tehsildar Kishtwar today granted three days police custody of rape accused Imam after he was arrested by the police within 24 hours for committing rape and impregnating the 14 year old girl in Balgaran area of Drabshalla Block in district Kishtwar.
As per the details available with Early Times, Kishtwar Police after conducting the medical examination of the accused produce him at the residence of first class Magistrate as due to Sunday, the courts were closed.
After going through the case dairy file, Tehsildar Kishtwar sent the accused for three days police custody with the directions to produce the accuse in trail court on the next day of hearing.
It is pertinent to mention that the father of 14 year old minor girl approached the Kishtwar police that his minor daughter was allegedly raped by Hafiz Nazir Ahmed resident of Balgaran in Drabshalla block of Kishtwar District.
The father of the victim stated that his minor daughter used to visit the accused for studies and in between the 30 year old accused who is married took advantage of innocence of his minor daughter and made sexual advances on his minor daughter.
The victim's father also stated that after making sexual advances on his daughter by the accused, his minor daughter become pregnant. He said that the accused after coming to know about the four month old pregnancy of the victim, he took her to hospital and with the help of some medical practitioner, he terminated the pregnancy of the victim added that they came to know about the matter only after they notice abnormal behavior and dipping health of the victim.
They said that on inquiry, they came to know about the whole incident and later brought the matter into the notice of the police and file a written with the police.
On the bases of the written complaint filed by the victim's father, Kishtwar police register an FIR No. 79/2019 Under Section 376 RPC and started its investigation into the matter.
The accused according to sources tried his best to influence the victim's family for settlement of the case and even offered to marry the victim, but the family refused any compromise and decided to go ahead with filing a written complaint with the police against the accused and demanded his immediate arrest.
The abortion of the minor girl with the help of local medical practitioner has once again raised question mark and points finger towards the nexus operating in the Kishtwar District as only few week ago, several dead foetus were recovered from the District Hospital Kishtwar premises following which Kishtwar Police registered an FIR, but till that police did not provide any detail on the progress of the investigation into the case that shamed Kishtwar District.
