Mehbooba enticing voters by seeking 'azadi' for Kashmir
4/28/2019 11:41:03 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 28: Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president, Mehbooba Mufti, is desperate to win the elections, she is seeking 'azadi' for Kashmir, to appease the anti-national elements and the Pak stooges present in the Valley.
Her recent statement that "if Articles 35A and 370 are hindrance set Kashmir free" has evoked sharp resentment. "Someone needs to tell Mehbooba that no one has given her the mandate to speak on the behalf of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. And she is not the only custodian of the state's special status," said an analyst.
He said that Mehbooba seems to have forgotten that it was late Maharaja Hari Singh, who introduced state subject laws in Jammu and Kashmir to keep outsiders at bay. "She is seeking Azadi for Kashmir to appease separatists and their supporters so that they vote for her in the ongoing Parliamentary elections in the state," the analyst said, adding that "She (Mehbooba) needs to be reminded that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India and no power on earth can snatch it. She should stop selling dreams and illusions to the people," the analyst added.
A Kashmir watcher said that Mehbooba's statement has vindicated the stand of the people who are demanding that she should be banned from contesting the elections. "Recently Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said that the people who are preaching sedition and separatism have no right to contest the elections," he added.
A politician said, "Mehbooba's statement should serve as an eye opener for the BJP and it leaders, who claim to be the only nationalists in the country. When BJP joined hands with the PDP in 2015 to form the government in Jammu and Kashmir, nationalist forces opposed the move. They warned the BJP leaders about PDP being an anti-national and pro-separatist party. At that point of time the BJP leaders did not pay any heed towards the suggestions, which were put forward by the nationalistic people. It went ahead with the alliance to grab power in Jammu and Kashmir."
He said, "Today the same Mehbooba, who had the ashirwad of the top RSS and BJP leaders, when she was the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, is talking about freeing Kashmir. But this is her real face. Her politics has been based on deceit and falsehood. When she was in power she used to give one statement in Delhi and another in Kashmir. Today she stands exposed."
