Conflict between Kashmiri politicians and Centre"s plan to go in for fresh delimitation of constituencies
6/10/2019 10:54:09 PM
The Kashmir centric political parties are up in arms against the Centre which plans to set up a new delimitation commission which would end a raw deal to the Jammuites. The region of Jammu, which is quite large when compared to the valley of Kashmir has been allotted 37 Assembly seats while the Kashmir valley has been given 42 seats. And this is considered a stepmotherly treatment..The Jammuites want equal share of the Assembly seats which would deprive the Valley of its supremacy. And this is another friction between the Kashmir centric political parties and the Centre. Already there is conflict between the Kashmiri politician s and the centre over Articles 370 and 35-A.Where as the Centre is determined to revoke these Articles those in Kashmir are determined to retain these Articles. The Centre has appointed three committees to supervise various activities of departments. These are Appointments Committee, Committees on Accommodation, Economic Affairs, Parliamentary Affairs, Political Affairs, Security, Investment and Growth and Cabinet Committee on Employment and Skill Development.
Cabinet Secretariat said in a press release that the Cabinet Committee on Security will have Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs Nirmala Sitharaman and External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar. Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has Prime Minister Modi and Amit Shah. While Cabinet Committee on Investment and Growth will have the Prime Minister and Ministers of Home, Road Transport and Highways, Finance and Corporate Affairs and Railways and Commerce and Industry Ministers. This step has been taken to advance growth and employment. Weather skill or easy arm chair jobs. Well the Prime Minister and the Union Minister will have direct control on the security of the nation and in particular of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Jammu and Kashmir is faced with the problem of having a new Assembly election. And for that the security grid has been tightened in order to scare away those who want to disturb the poll process. The centre is in favour of not only peaceful polling but the polling percentage be on the upper side so that the separatists may not dare to get support from the militants. It is not known whether the new election is to be held on the basis of the old constituencies or that of the proposed delimitation commission.
