Early Times Report
Rajouri, June 10: Block Development Officer Sunderrbani of Tehsil Sunderbani district Rajouri is once again in news for allegedly getting released a payment of Rs 2 lakh for a work of construction of culvert which was never done on ground but was shown completed on papers.
Sources in the Rural Development Department Sunderbani told Early Times that construction of culvert was sanctioned for Panchayat Patrara in 2016-17 at the cost of Rs 2 lakh and the concerned Block Development Officer in connivance with Village Level Worker and Junior Engineer embezzled the payment without executing the work on ground.
The locals lodged a complaint in this regard to the concerned Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) and demanded inquiry into alleged irregularity as a result the officer sought file from the BDO Sunderbani for this work but it has been months, BDO has failed to comply with the order of his superior.
"This was not the only scandal but there other embezzlements which have been done by the office and should be thoroughly inquired by the Anti Corruption Bureau," they said. They appealed the ACB Chief Anand Jain for holding inquiry and lodging of FIR against the corrupt officials of Rural Development Department. They also demanded recovery of embezzled money.
