DLSA launches "Ageing With Dignity" campaign in Udhampur

Udhampur, June 10: District Legal Services Authority, Udhampur , in compliance to the directions of the Chief Justice of J&K High Court, Justice Gita Mittal, Patron-in-Chief', J&K State Legal Services Authority, Udhampur, on Monday kick started the week long campaign "Ageing With Dignity", in district, Udhampur .
The campaign in collaboration with Civil administration was started under the chairmanship of Chairman, District Legal Services Authority (Pr. District & Sessions Judge) Udhampur Mohan Lal Manhas and under the overall supervision of Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Udhampur , Sub judge Mrs Sandeep Kour .
The campaign programmes were designed by Mohammad Akram Choudhary, Member Secretary, J&K State Legal Services Authority, Srinagar in collaboration with Anugraha Regional Resource & Training Center on Ageing, to address different challenges being faced by Senior Citizens,. District Legal Services Authority, Udhampur has engaged different Government departments in the district in the 'Ageing with Dignity', campaign, to sensitize and aware the masses especially the elderly group about the various existing schemes developed by their respective departments for addressing the increasing needs and different challenges being faced by the senior citizens, in District Udhampur .
As part of the campaign, District Legal Services Authority, Udhampur organized a medical check up camp for elderly persons at District Hospital Udhampur which was inaugurated by Principal District & Session Judge Mohan Lal Manhas . Medical Superintendent Dr Vijay Kumar Bansotra and Physican Dr Om Kar Bhagat examine the elderly persons on the occasion . On the first day of week long campaign a Picnic was also organized at Jakhani Park for Elderly persons of Jagriti old age home .
According to Secretary DLSA sub judge Mrs Sandeep Kour as part of the week long campaign from 10 to 15th June , District Legal Services Authority, udhampur will organize Painting and Slogan Writing Competition on the title ageing with dignity , walkthrough and light games ,Sensitization Programme on Fostering Intergenerational Bonding, for the students of different Govt School in collaboration with Education Department and cultural and light music programme during week long campaign . She added that these events are being organized as an endeavor to strengthen the integration between generations and to facilitate interaction between the students and youth about the various problems being faced by the elderly people and ways & methods in mitigating them.
